We absolutely understand that it can be a daunting process deciding which Pre-School setting to choose for your child.  You will, undoubtedly, have lots of queries.  Here are a few frequently asked questions, but please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything else that you would like to know; we are proud to operate an open door policy.

How do I keep track of my child's progress?

As well as periodic parents'/carers’ evenings, we utilise a digital system called Famly where we will be able to record your child's experiences and assessments via our iPads. We, also, use this for communication and registration.  The content will be available for you to view online / via your mobile phone or tablet. This system allows us to work closely in partnership with parents and carers, giving you real-time updates about your child’s day, including toileting, medicines and photos. We are really finding that this system has allowed us to improve our instant communication with families and are excited to use it further.

What are you child/staff ratios?

Ratios are 1:8 for 3 and 4 year olds and 1:5 for 2 year olds.

Does my child need to be out of nappies to start Pre-School?

No.  The staff at Pre-School will work alongside you with the toilet-training process.  For more information, please request a copy of our nappy changing policy.

My child requires medication/has allergies.  Can this be accommodated?

Certainly.  We will liaise with you closely to ensure that your child receives the required medical care and that levels of health and hygiene are maintained in accordance with allergies.  There are always staff trained in First Aid on duty.

What should I do if my child is sick?

We ask that your child remains at home for 48 hours after an episode of vomiting or diarrhoea to avoid it spreading.  Please call the office if your child is absent due to sickness and notify us of any potentially contagious illnesses.  Your cooperation and understanding with this is greatly appreciated. Any sickness will be recorded on a child’s Famly profile.

My child still naps.  Are there facilities for them to have a sleep?

Whilst we do not have formal facilities such as beds for tired children, we understand that sometimes this is out of everyone's control!  When required, sleeping mats and blankets are provided.  Parents will be contacted if there is any thought that tiredness might be due to illness.  There is a sleeping policy in place should you require further information.
