Rationale

Olveston Pre-School CIC aims to provide affordable Pre-School education to children aged between 2 and 5 years. Children are entitled to funding from South Gloucestershire Council for 15 / 30 hours per week for 38 weeks a year, the Government’s mean tested childcare support.

We now offer the 30-hour funding to those who are eligible, as well as the working entitlement for 2-year-olds. The Nursery Education Grant (NEG) year is divided into 3 terms: autumn, spring and summer. Full details of the Nursery Education Grant system are available from the Pre-School Manager.

Enhanced Provision Charge

Because the Government’s funding does not cover all of the extras required for us to provide outstanding childcare, our setting charges all funded children a voluntary enhanced provision charge to cover everything outside of their funding. We firmly believe that our setting provides value for money and every penny spent is carefully considered, to enhance the children’s experience of learning through play.

We use our voluntary Enhanced Provision charge to enhance the daily experience for our children because the funding purely covers a member of staff to be with the child, it does not, sadly, cover all the amazing opportunities that we provide children with so that they can grow and develop at their own pace through following the Early Years curriculum.

This charge includes, but is not limited to, all services which are not covered by the Government’s Early Years funding, all arts and crafts materials, music sessions, gifts that the children create, books to enhance themed learning, afternoon session snack, cooking materials, gardening, music and movement, and some sundries.

If you have any questions concerning this charge, please speak to the Pre-School Manager. As per the Government guidance that came into place on 1 April 2025, this fee is voluntary. If you do wish to or are unable to pay it, please speak to the Pre-School Manager.

Forest School

We offer Forest School sessions twice a week, o a Tuesday and a Thursday morning with Elise from Woodland Makery and Alex from Hilltops Forest School. These sessions are charged at £5 per week.

We do not charge for nappies or suncream. We ask families to provide their child’s own preferred brand.

Tax Free Childcare

We invoice 3 times a year, ahead of the September, January and April/May term (depending on where Easter falls). If families are eligible, you can pay your fees using the Tax Free Childcare scheme, saving families 20% on their bill. An example would be: Child’s invoice of £200 – paid with Tax Free Childcare the Government would pay £40 so you would pay £160. Procedures

Olveston Pre-School CIC uses a Waiting List form to award available spaces on a first come first served basis. To be on the Waiting List, a Waiting List Form must be completed and sent to the Pre-School Manager, who manages all Admission Enquiries. A place on the Waiting List is no guarantee of a child’s place.

If a place becomes available, children will be offered the space via email according to the Waiting List order.

To secure a place, a non-refundable Registration Fee of £50.00 is payable via BACS along with a completed Registration Form.

This Registration Fee includes 2 x 1 hour ‘Stay & Play’ sessions to all your child to become familiar with our setting and a branded tote welly bag.

Only once a Registration Fee has been received will a confirmation of a place be confirmed via email by the Manager.

Pre-School follows the term dates issued by South Gloucestershire. On occasion, this exceeds 38 weeks so this shortfall will be charged at the full rate as shown below.

We accept monthly payments of fees, to be agreed with the Pre-School Manager.

All fees are payable per (long) term in advance within 2 weeks of receipt of the bill and are non-refundable.

Fees continue to be payable if a child is absent without notice for a short time.

In cases of prolonged absence, parents should consult the Pre-School Directors about fee payment.

Should fees remain unpaid 2 weeks after the date the bill was issued, the following action will be taken:

An automatic reminder email will be sent.

If fees remain unpaid 2 weeks after the due date stated in the invoice, a further email will be sent from the Pre-School Directors.

If fees continue to be outstanding, parents / carers are invited to a meeting with the Pre-School Manager.

Should fees remain unpaid, the child’s place at Olveston Pre-School CIC will be in question.

Should you wish to permanently withdraw your child from Olveston Pre-School CIC, or reduce the number of their agreed sessions, the notice period is one half-term.

Written notice of withdrawing a child must be given to the Pre-School Manager. Where notice is given during a half term, a period of 4 weeks paid notice is required. If there is less than 4 weeks left of the half term in which notice was given, a bill will be issued for any notice period weeks that have not been paid for.

Fees will be reviewed annually and may be subject to increase from January and September, in conjunction with the annual review of the Nursery Education Grant funding.

If families are finding their fees difficult to play, please speak to the Pre-school Manager about setting up a payment schedule.

We are closed for 5 Staff INSET days per year. These are chargeable.

The Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) provides additional funding to providers to support the quality of early education for eligible children taking up the early education and childcare entitlements. The Disability Access Fund (DAF) supports eligible, disabled children’s access to the entitlements.

As far as is logistically possible in our setting, our Directors work hard to provide the pattern of the entitlement hours are convenient for parents’ working hours. We ensure that children are able to take up their free hours in continuous blocks if you wish to, and there are no artificial breaks in the entitlement hours, as dictated by the Government in April 2025.
